I spent 60+ hours on assignments 2 and onwards in 13s. 130's assignments were disappointing. CSE 130 Principles of Computer Systems Design. Spring 2023. Project 5 is out! CMPM 146 with Shapiro was honestly a really fun course, though fairly time intensive and difficult. Then again, I took it over 5 weeks in the summer with another 5 week upper div class at the same time and a 10 week upper div class. I'd give it an A if you're fairly early on in programming, B or even C if you're pretty comfortable programming. My CC's assembly course seems very different from CSE 12. I don't think we went over much outside of basic coding in assembly. I'll be taking CSE 120 during the Spring, and I'm worried I'll be bombarded with concepts I'm unfamiliar with. Is there anything in particular I should review in the next few days before the quarter officially starts?

We shall focus in particular on one paradigm – functional programming as embodied in the lambda calculus and the Haskell language. Many students will be encountering this paradigm and these languages for the first time. It's definitely doable if the third class is easy. Quinn 130 is hard not impossible. 113 tests were take home as well. Doable, some concepts will overlap later in the quarter. Andrew and Tyler are super chill professors too. Make the third class 102 and you will be chilling.

We created CSE 130 specifically so that students could take it early in their junior year, giving them the necessary background for 132, 134, 138, and (likely) 181. To do this, we cut the OS internals that used to be in CMPS 111, and replaced them with more material on building large computer systems.I can confirm that CSE 131 will no longer be offered. We had to give CMPS 111 a new CSE 111 name so that we could include it as a prerequisite alternative to CSE 130, but the course itself has been deprecated. CSE 134 will cover many of the CMPS 111 topics not covered by CSE 130, and will cover a lot more material about operating system ...Computer Science and Engineering; ... I am a Computer Science graduate, tutored cs for 3 years, held a position of leadership in a club for 2 years, and started here as a freshman in 2018 (did all 4 years at ucsc), lived in crown for my freshman year, merrill in my second year, then off campus for the next 2 years.
